2、withaLiouvillepotentialundertheassumptionofD−2planarsymmetry.Thegeneralstaticortime-dependentsolutionsarefoundyieldingthreeclassesofSO(D−2)symmetricspacetimes.InD=4homogeneousandisotropicsubsetsofthesesolutionsyieldplanarscalarfieldcosmologies.InD=5theyrepresentthegeneralstatico

3、rtime-dependentbackgroundsforadilatonicwall-typebraneUniverseofplanarcosmologicalsymmetry.HereweapplythesesolutionsasSO(8)symmetricbackgroundstonon-supersymmetric10dimensionalstringtheories,theopenUSp(32)typeIstringandtheheteroticstringSO(16)×SO(16).WeobtainthegeneralSO(9)solut

4、ionsasaparticularcase.Allstaticsolutionsarefoundtobesin-gularwiththesingularitysometimeshiddenbyahorizon.Thesolutionsarenotasymptoticallyflatorofconstantcurvature.Thesingularbehaviorisnolongertrueoncewepermitspaceandtimedependenceofthespacetimemet-ricmuchlikethickdomainwallorglo
