2、incetheGovernment-Bindingperiod,thosetwomajorquestionshavebeenexploredfromvariousperspectives,includingtheCasetheory,thebindingprinciples,functionalcategories,phase,andsoon.ThoughcontributingtotheunderstandingofChineseDOCs,suchanalysesarenotunproblematic.Specifically,ononeha
3、nd,excessivesemanticcriteriaaretakenintoaccountregardingthedefinitionofDOCs,andontheother,inadequateexplorationhasbeendevotedtothecorrelationbetweenDOCs’syntacticstructureandtheirobjects’performances.RegardingChineseDOCs,threemajorissueswillbeaddressed.Firstly,whatarethememb
4、ersofChineseDOCs?Secondly,howshouldtheyberepresentedsyntactically?Thirdly,whydotheirobjectscontrastinsyntacticperformances?Onthebasisofpreviousstudiesonthistopic,coupledwithprosodicsyntax,newfindingshavebeenmadeconcerningChineseDOCs:Firstly,adverbialinterventionandexhaustive
5、resultativerevealthatthecontroversialaffect-DOCs(A-DOCs)arequalifiedasDOCmembers,insteadofbeingderivedfromdeomissionofsingleobjectconstructions.Secondly,thetwokindsofChineseDOCsshouldbecapturedwithdifferentsyntacticstructures,ofwhichtheformerareprosodicallymotivated,andthela
6、tterincludeaphonologicallynullverbwiththesemanticsofbeingaffected.Finally,theobjects’behaviorsbearonthecorrespondingsyntacticcontextsinwhichtheyoccur.ConsideringthatIOistheobjectofaprepositionandthatChinesegenerallydisallowsprepositionstranding,itfollowsnaturallythatIOintran
