2、ethecognitiveprocessofmetaphortranslationfromtheperspectiveofthethrivingConceptualIntegrationTheory.First,thisthesisanalyzesthemetaphoricalnatureofBusinessEnglishNewsinthesampletextsfromBusinessweekrangingfromJanuary,2008toJuly,2009.868metaphoricalexpressionsarepickedoutandthencategorizedinton
3、inetypesofconceptualmetaphors:BUSINESSISLIVINGORGANISM,MOVEMENT,VEHICLE,FLUID,WAR,GAME,BUILDING,JOURNEY,andCONTAINER.Then,basedontheidentificationandclassificationoftheseconceptualmetaphors,thetranslatingstrategiesofthesemetaphorsemployedinthecorrespondingChinesetextsinBusinessWeek/Chinaarecla
4、ssifiedintothreecategories:(1)Translatingmetaphorsintosimilaroneswhenthesourcecultureandtargetculturesharethesameconceptualmetaphors;(2)translatingmetaphorsintodifferentmetaphorswhenthesourcecultureandtargetculturedonotsharethesameconceptualmetaphor;(3)whentheconceptualmetaphorsinsourceculture
5、areabsentinthetargetculture,twotranslationstrategiesareusuallyemployed:(Dreservingthemetaphorfromthesourceculture;(室)translatingmetaphorsintonon—metaphors.OnthebasisofConceptualIntegrationTheoryadvancedbyGillesFauconnierandMarkTurnerandWangBin’Sformulafortranslationi.e.BTr=(ST+TS)/GS,thecognit
