3、emicroscopicparticlecounttesttoreachaconclusiononconformancetotherequirements.Notallparenteralpreparationscanbeexaminedforsub-visibleparticlesbyoneorbothofthesemethods.WhenMethod1isnotapplicable,e.g.incaseofpreparationshavingreducedclarityorincreasedviscosity,thete
4、stshouldbecarriedoutaccordingtoMethod2.Emulsions,colloids,andliposomalpreparationsareexamples.Similarly,productsthatproduceairorgasbubbleswhendrawnintothesensormayalsorequiremicroscopicparticlecounttesting.Iftheviscosityofthepreparationtobetestedissufficientlyhighs
5、oastoprecludeitsexaminationbyeithertestmethod,aquantitativedilutionwithanappropriatediluentmaybemadetodecreaseviscosity,asnecessary,toallowtheanalysistobeperformed.Theresultsobtainedinexaminingadiscreteunitorgroupofunitsforparticulatemattercannotbeextrapolatedwithc
6、ertaintytootherunitsthatremainuntested.Thus,statisticallysoundsamplingplansmustbedevelopedifvalidinferencesaretobedrawnfromobserveddatatocharacterizethelevelofparticulatematterinalargegroupofunits.METHOD1.LIGHTOBSCURATIONPARTICLECOUNTTESTUseasuitableapparatusbasedo
