3、vision.ThismakestheWEFannualmeetingacost-effectivebrainstormingevent,whichIwouldcall“Schwabeconomics”.“Itwasthebestoftimes,itwastheworstoftimes.”ThesearethewordsusedbytheEnglishwriterCharlesDickenstodescribetheworldaftertheIndustrialRevolution.Today,wealsoliveinaworldofcontradictions.Ontheoneha
4、nd,withgrowingmaterialwealthandadvancesinscienceandtechnology,humancivilizationhasdevelopedasneverbefore.Ontheotherhand,frequentregionalconflicts,globalchallengesliketerrorismandrefugees,aswellaspoverty,unemploymentandwideningincomegaphavealladdedtotheuncertaintiesoftheworld.Manypeoplefeelbewil
5、deredandwonder:Whathasgonewrongwiththeworld?Toanswerthisquestion,onemustfirsttrackthesourceoftheproblem.Someblameeconomicglobalizationforthechaosintheworld.EconomicglobalizationwasonceviewedasthetreasurecavefoundbyAliBabainTheArabianNights,butithasnowbecomethePandora’sboxintheeyesofmany.Theinte
6、rnationalcommunityfindsitselfinaheateddebateoneconomicglobalization.Today,Iwishtoaddresstheglobaleconomyinthecontextofeconomicglobalization.ThepointIwanttomakeisthatmanyoftheproblemstroublingtheworldarenotcausedbyeconomicglobalization.Forinstance,therefugeewavesfromtheMiddleEastandNorthAfricain
