2、lidengineeringbackground.Weenvisionsuchapractitionertobeinterestednotjustinconcretesystemimplementations,butalsoinborrowingideasfromthegeneraltheoryofintelligentsystemstoadvancethestateofautonomousdriving.Thepracticaldevelopmentofautonomousdrivingsystemsinvolvesdomainspe-cificalgorithms,ar

3、chitecture,systemsengineering,andtechnicalimplementation,asshowninFig.13.1.Ofthese,thischapterfocusesonthelatterthree.Architectureanditsdevelopmentmaypossiblybeconsideredasapartofsystemsengineering,butforthepurposeofthischapter,wetreatitasadistinctarea.Thisisbecauseoftheextensivecoverageo

4、farchitectureinthechapter.ThearrowsinFig.13.1representan“impact”relationship.Thus,thearrowfromarchitecturetosystemsengineeringimpliesthatarchitecturehasanimpactonsystemsengineering.Theimpactcanbeofvarioustypes,butthekeypointisthatthepracticaldevelopmentofautonomousdrivingsystemsmustholist

5、icallyconsideralltheareasandtheirimpactinginterrelations.Suchaholisticviewisnotalwayswithinthescopeofresearchers“deepdiving”intothespecificsofaparticulararea.Nevertheless,forpracticingengineersandconcreteprojects,itcannot(shouldnot)beignored.Thischapterpresentsthethreeareaswithinaholisticc
