2、feasibilitywasshownrelativelyquickly[2,4]anditisnowwidelyacceptedthatCMOS-basedrangeimagingisoneofthemostpromisingfuturetechnologiesinthefieldofphotonicsandopticalsensing.Inspring2005thefirstcommercialproductbasedonthePMDrangeimagingapproachwasintroducedtothemarketandreceivedthe“HermesAwa
3、rd2005”[10].Internationalexpertsdoagreethatrangeimaginglikenoothertechnologyoffersrevolutionaryproductsolutionsinvariousmarkets.Butgoingdeeperintoconcreteapplications,onerecognizesthetechnicallimitationsanddifficultiesofthisuniquetechnology.Therearemanyapplicationsthatrequirearobustoperat
4、ionevenundertoughenvironmentalconditionslikebrightsunlightorotherbackgroundlightsourcesorlargetemperaturesandwayshavetobefoundofhowtohandletheresultinghighdynamicrangeenvironments.Thispaperwillgiveanintroductoryoverviewofthetechnicalrequirementsinvolvedwithbackgroundlightandcorrespondings
