2、sedbyOCMIafterInspectionDeficienciesinvessel’smaintenancehavetoberepairedorimprovedinOCMI’stimeframeInspectorcanconducttestsandinspectionsashedeemsnecessarySubchapterM-USCGOptionPeriodicInspectionThevesselmustalsoundergoaperiodicinspectionwithin3months–beforeorafter–thesecondorthirdanniversary

3、dateofthevessel’sCOI.Thistakestheplaceoftheannualinspection.Owner/operatorcontactstheOCMIfordate/place.Nowrittenapplicationisrequired.ScopeisthesameasforaCOIInspectionOCMIendorsesCOIafterInspectionDeficienciesinvessel’smaintenancehavetoberepairedorimprovedinOCMI’stimeframeInspectorcanconductte

4、stsandinspectionsashedeemsnecessarySubchapterM-USCGOptionCompliancewiththeUSCGOptionOwner/OperatorswithmorethanonetowingvesselrequiredtohaveaCOIandchoosingtheUSCGOption,MUSTensurethateachvesselundertheirownershiporcontrolisissuedavalidCOIaccordingtothisschedule:Within3yearsofthefinalrule,25%of

5、thefleetWithin4yearsofthefinalrule,50%ofthefleetWithin5yearsofthefinalrule,75%ofthefleetWithin6yearsofthefinalrule,100%ofthefleetSubchapterM-USCGOptionCERTIFICATEOFINSPECTIONAtowingMAYNOTbeoperatedwithouthavingonboardavalidCOIissuedbytheUSCG.EachtowingvesselcertificatedundertheseprovisionsMUST

6、beinFULLcompliancewiththetermsoftheCOIAtemporaryCOImaybeissuedtopreventdelayswhilewaitingfortheregularCOI.SubchapterM-USCGOptionCERTIFICATEOFINSPECTIONACOIdescribesthefollowing:VesselRoute(s)itmaytravelMinimummanningrequirementsMinimumsafetyequipmentcarriedHorsepowerOtherinformationpertinentto

7、thevessel’soperationsasdeterminedbytheOCMISubchapterM-USCGOptionCERTIFICATEOFINSPECTIONObtainingaCOIMakeanapplicationtotheOCMIofthemarineinspectionzoneinwhichthetowingvesselisprincipallyoperatedorinwhichmanagementofficesaremaintainedCom
